Theatre TRAILS Project

The project promotes the exchange of good practices in engaging, connecting and empowering adults, particularly with fewer opportunities and at risk of social exclusion, through theatre and performing arts. It is linked to the activation and of disadvantaged/underprivileged social groups, whose representatives will be encouraged and empowered to use theatre as a means to advance their specific causes and interests before the general public and public opinion making their members more visible and presenting them to society in a positive light – thus fitting into the horizontal priority of social inclusion.

Objectives

The concrete objectives of the project are therefore:

  1. To develop and strengthen the capacity of partner organizations to provide non-formal learning, civic engagement and social inclusion activities and services based on theatre and performing arts methods;
  2. Increase their capacity to work internationally by sharing ideas, creativity and good practices in the field;
  3. Improve cooperation in implementing and disseminating relevant effective and innovative practices at local, regional national and international levels;
  4. Develop important competences and skills of staff members, such as personal, social and learning to learning; citizenship competences; entrepreneurship (artistic) competences; competences of cultural awareness and cultural expression through engagement in socially engaged theatre and performing arts activities; and improve the creative skills and motivation of disadvantaged adults to engage in the dominant trends of life.
  5. Improve the living conditions and inclusion of adults with fewer opportunities, in particular by helping to strengthen transversal competences, such as communication skills, interculturality, empathy and emotional intelligence.

Target Group

The main target groups of the project are:

  • Theatre practitioners and artists, as well as adult educators, working in the three participating organizations, who will benefit from cooperation, exchange and joint production of results
  • Adults (aged 18+) who experience fewer opportunities in terms of social inclusion, including migrants, refugees, unemployed people, people with disabilities, who will benefit from the local workshops and the final mobility that will give them the opportunity to share experiences and experiences in an intercultural context.

Expected Results

  • A notebook “Theatre Trails in Adult Education – TheatreTRAILS” recounting the first training of trainers in Bulgaria;
  • A second notebook recounting the experiences of local workshops and collective performance in Italy;
  • Photographic and video material.
